Poland, Romania and Bulgaria are increasingly common destinations in both directions: professionals working in Eastern Europe, families returning and students. These are long routes, 2,500–3,500 km, and they need different planning from a move to France.

Distances and travel days

Madrid–Warsaw is about 2,900 km; Madrid–Kraków 2,700; Madrid–Bucharest 3,100; Madrid–Sofia 3,200; and Madrid–Varna or Burgas exceeds 3,400 km. Expect 3–6 travel days with planned stops and relief drivers.

Usual routes

  • Poland: via France, Belgium and Germany to Berlin and Warsaw, or via Dresden and Wrocław.
  • Romania: via Austria, Hungary and the Arad border.
  • Bulgaria: via Hungary and Serbia to Sofia, or through Romania depending on the destination.

Borders and documents

All three are EU countries, so there is no customs for household goods. Still carry ID or passport, inventory and vehicle documents. On routes crossing non-EU countries (for example Serbia) we check requirements before departure.

Indicative prices

For 15–25 m³, the range including VAT is €2,200–6,200. The price per cubic metre falls with larger loads, but the total rises with distance. Use the calculator.

Long-route tips

  • Book earlier: fewer trucks are available for the east.
  • Tell us about blocks without a lift or rural addresses.
  • If you need storage, tell us before loading.
  • Confirm load status and timing with the driver.
