Why do two similar moves have different prices? Because price depends not only on kilometres: volume, service type, access and season all play a part.
Distance drives transport
As a 2026 reference, international road transport ranges from €0.32 to €0.85 per km for shared shipments. For a full move, the cost per cubic metre falls as the load grows.
Volume rules
You pay for space, not weight. Going from 15 to 30 m³ does not double the price, but it clearly increases it because you need a larger truck and more loading time.
What makes a move more expensive
- High floors without a lift.
- Pianos, safes and artworks.
- Full packing and furniture assembly.
- Summer or end-of-month dates.
- Parking permits at origin and destination.
How to save safely
Be flexible with dates, reduce volume before moving, pack non-fragile items yourself and share a truck if you are not in a hurry. Never cut corners on inventory, sealing and insurance.
